Trying demo version, another Alesis DM10 hi hat problem

I’m trying the EZDrummer 2 demo, and have been extremely frustrated trying to get the DM10 hi hat pedal to trigger. The closed and open cymbal strike works, but the foot close does not. The hi hat shows opening and closing in EZD2 but there is no sound.

I think I’ve looked at just about every suggestion I can find online, as well as just about every YouTube video. I’ve tried changing the hi hat trigger settings on the DM10 to every variation I’ve found online. I’ve tried every setting variation I found inside EZD2.

The only specific thing I noticed was that the demo is version 2.1.1, which I don’t think is current version available for purchase? I included a screen shot.

I downloaded the demo version of EZD because I’ve already spent two days trying to get the hi hat to work in Logic Pro X. I read that EZD was designed to work with Alesis drums so I thought I’d give it a try.

I’m probably missing something really simple, but I don’t see it.
