Hello everyone,
here’s a track of my D-Beat/Crust/Death-Metal project Tribünal.
I hope it is ok to post a youtube-link. If a direct-link to a mp3-file is required, please give me an info.
It’s my first project that I used SD 2. The drums are SD 2 out of the box, no extension packs. I used a free metal-preset as a starting point, added some parallel-comp for the toms, tweaked the kick and snare to sit nicer in the mix and added some more room.
Bass is a cheap Fender clone through a Behringer Sansamp-clone, split to two tracks for bottom-end and grit.
Guitars are four tracks of Gibson LP Studio through a DS1 clone into an Orange Micro Terror, Marshall 1960, Shure SM57. Only some minor eq-clean-up and that’s it.
Vocals were done with the 57 too and had some comp- and eq-treatment.
Hope you like it.
Hi!
Good stuff. How ´bout sharing your SD preset?
MacPro 2x2.66 GHz, 8 Gt RAM, OSX 10.5.8, ProTools 9.0.6 + Mbox2 pro
The preset is based on some free metal-preset, I think I found on youtube.
Here’s the one I used for the recording above:

All songs were recorded with the setup I mentioned before.
Nice! Did you use an HM-2 pedal for distortion?

I wanted to use a HM-2, but had none at hand when I tracked the guitars. I used a DS-1 clone, all maxed out and added a little bit of mid-boost in the DAW.
Next time I’ll go the “Left Hand Path”-route with an HM-2 left and right and an additional track with a DS-1 on the center.
