Okay so I am currently still waiting for it to copy and it appears to be stuck on having transfered ‘864.0 MB of 1.36 GB.

Would be an alright option to simply delete this sound file from “My Hardrive > SL-SuperiorDrummer3_SDX_Part2 > Contents > SL-SuperiorDrummer3 > Sounds”and then try running the full installation again? It’s evidently not happy with this specific sound file 🙁

No, don’t delete it from there, that’s the source and it is okay (the first ‘md5’ command showed that the entire file could be read).

Hmm. Unless aborting the Finder copy deletes it entirely from the destination (My Hardrive > SL-SuperiorDrummer3 > Sounds), then you could try to rename it (My Hardrive > SL-SuperiorDrummer3 > Sounds > soundb47.obw) to something else, for example BAD-soundb47.obw, and try to perform the installation (or the copy in Finder) again. The idea is that the old partial file could keep the bad sector of the disk occupied and let you write a new file on a different sector. You may need to repeat it a few times, so that you’ll have BAD-soundb47.obw, BAD2-soundb47.obw and BAD3-soundb47.obw, for example, until it will work.

But you can be pretty sure there is something wrong with the disk if a Finder copy gets stuck like that, so maybe best if you try to get it exchanged for a new one.

    Hi,

Thanks for this. By disk do you mean there’s most likely something wrong with my external hard drive?

    Yes.

    Hi again,

Thanks so much for your help with this. My last question (hopefully) is am I able to re download my superior drummer 3 parts to a new hard drive? So far, it is all (a part from the initial SD 3 software function) been put on to the current external hard drive- which now needs replacing due to the installation issue discussed above.

Sure, you can download it as many times as you need. You could also copy the downloads to the internal drive temporarily if you have place.

Are you able to recommend a good solid external hard drive that will be comfortable receiving and transferring files with superior drummer 3?
