Hey guys I have EZD2 with metal! and metal machine.
I find that I write very diverse music with different time signatures and tempo changes. From punk beats to blast beats to orchestrated theatrical rhythms etc. Perhaps supreme drummer could have been a better idea for me? Anyways, I find that most of the beats I have are ones I really wouldn’t use. There are a few metal and upbeat nofx punk beats that I would use in an early Avenged Sevenfold / Pantera style (think Sandblasted Skin), but aside from that I’m having a hard time finding beats that are something I’d actually like to use in a more alternative rock direction focused more on traditional / radio friendly song structure.
I really am looking for beats more similar towards Thirty Seconds To Mars (The Kill / Beautiful Lie) or older Three Days Grace (Riot) and I find that the radio rock beats are just straight beats and are quite boring. I know you can add hits and I have a midi controller on the way to just midi in my own, but would that then for the most part render my purchase nearly useless?
I know you can add hits and record over a beat to add more if you need, but I feel like the whole browser and song builder function have no benefit to me if I’m using a custom beat. Is this correct?
Is there a midi pack that has similar beats to what I’m looking for and would then benefit me greatly?
Thank you kindly for the help
Dee
Why not try it and see for yourself??
The cool thing about EZD2 and its Song Builder and Tap2Find search functionality
is that you can record your custom pattern, throw into Tap2Find and find similar grooves.
With the “Show Web Shop MIDI” button enabled, you can preview matching grooves that you don’t even currently own.

Thanks this could help a lot. I had no clue about that!

I have played quite a bit with this feature and I’m still having trouble finding midi beats that I would actually use.
Everything seems so much like it’s either a metal core blast beat or a slow jazz beat.
Anyone have any suggestions for some alternative rock beats?
Thanks!
Dee
