Greetings –
I bought SD3 today and have not yet installed it.
I’m thinking of also getting the Drum Midi 6 pack for all the extra grooves.
1) Will that package work in SD3?
2) Is it overkill? Does SD3 already have most of those grooves?
any thoughts would be appreciated – – –

Yes, all Toontrack drum MIDI packs work with S3.
Unless otherwise stated, all MIDI packs are unique and not duplicated.
For example, it is stated on the product page that the Americana MIDI pack contains the same MIDI as the Americana EZX.

Thanks!
a follow-up question;
with SD3 came Pop Rock EZX. (or maybe that was on my computer due to EZ1, I’m not sure). In any case, Pop Rock EZX is not installed.
Should I install Pop Rock EZX, or does SD3 already have all those sounds?
thanks
Ricardo
Yes, you should have an Pop/Rock EZX product on your list of products. You can download, install, and authorize via Product Manager. It contains different sounds than the ones from the S3 libraries.

Thanks!
And a couple of other questions, if I may.
1) There are all these midi grooves available for purchase. For example, the Progressive Foundry midi. Are those the same grooves that you find in the Progressive Foundry SDX, just with no samples? Is that how, in general, the midi files are sold? They are the same files as you’d find in the SDX, just without the sounds themselves?
2) of all the midi grooves available for sale, which one(s) come closest to offering early 70s progressive rock grooves? Yes / King Crimson / ELP / Genesis. Any thoughts? I’ve listened to the Progressive Foundry and I’m not sure if that’s quite right. Maybe it is, but the grooves I’ve heard so far are way more modern. Maybe they could be used in a more vintage Prog-Rock way? Thoughts?
thanks
Ricardo
1) Like I stated above in post #2, the product page clearly states of a MIDI pack is the MIDI taken from an expansion pack (EZX or SDX). See pic.
2) I would recommend using the Show Webshop MIDI in the S3 Grooves tab. You can check out every pack in the Toontrack Universe to see if there are grooves to see what your are looking for.

Cool….if OP was asking for sample packs.
I think it states that they’re shopping for MIDI grooves.
