Hi I have Roland TD9KX running through a M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro into Superior Drummer 2.3.2 sitting inside Solo 1.3.2 with NY Avatar kit. My problem is the cymbal sensitivity. I have two CY8 cymbals set up as crashes in SD2 and they both exhibit the same odd behaviour. Even light touches generate a full crash sound from SD2. It’s not intermittent – it happens all the time. Here’s what I’ve checked: * All the Humanize functions are turned on for those cymbals (and everything else) * The MIDI notes are properly mapped – I can see the correct cymbals responding on screen * I’ve turned it all off and on again – several times * The ride and Hi-hat cymbals and all toms work correctly * The kit sounds just fine when you listen to the raw audio out of the TD9 brain * I’ve reset the TD9 to factory defaults * I used MIDI-OX to look at the midi signals that are being sent from the TD9 and they show very light hits at the time when I’m getting big crashes * The velocity control for both cymbals is active and a straight line from bottom left to top right. * I’ve tried several of the combined presets – doesn’t make any difference. But there is one possible clue: It only does it with drumsticks selected in Tool Settings – not with Rods or Brushes. With Rods or Brushes selected, though, none of the toms work – they all show a red exclamation mark – perhaps I didn’t load them.
Hi, not all instruments are sampled with all the Tools, so the Toms showing the red exclamation mark just means they’re not sampled with anything else but sticks. If you select another Tom, it will load. Are you using one of the MIDI Presets? Or have you mapped the instruments and articulations on your own? If the latter, the Mute Hit articulations are not velocity sensitive and are probably the ones you are triggering.

You, sir, are a genius and I thank you;-) That was it. I’d mapped some mute hits and that was causing it. I’ve unmapped them now and it’s great. Cheers Alistair
Hi Rony, I have built some triggers from remo practice pads this way (the internal trigger was a bit different though). It was a long time ago. The tension was “correct” and the results not that bad. By reducing the diameter of your mesh head, it may be possible to get a tighter tension but to be honest, these heads have a tendency to get looser over time.
