Hello,
I am using sonar x3 and Roland td 20 to run sd.
I want to know how to I go about having sd sounds come out of my computer speakers or headphones when playing the drums.
I have my td20 pluged into a focusrite interface. I currently hear the factory Roland sounds when i play , not the SD sounds. Although when I click the drums on the computer, I hear the SD sounds..
Is there any setting within the td20 I need to have set up?
Hi,
you need MIDI out from your TD-20 to your MIDI interface (I presume the Focusrite has a MIDI In?), which in turn needs to be connected to your computer.
In your host, Sonar or Toontrack solo (the latter is preferred if you only need playback and not recording), you select the Focusrite as your Audio interface and, if needed, enabling the MIDI Input as well.
Make sure your Toontrack software is updated, current version of Superior Drummer is 2.4.3.
In the Superior 2 plugin, you go to the Mapping page and select the ‘E-drums Roland’ MIDI Preset at the bottom of the page.
For smooth playback, you may need to adjust your host’s Hardware Buffer Size. Preferably in the 32-128 samples range, depending on what your computer can handle. Lower is better but also more demanding on the system.
You may also want to turn LOCAL=OFF in your TD-20, to further improve the response.

Hello,
I believe all is hooked correctly except when hitting the drums some register very low, while the cymbals are loud. Would this volume be controlled on the td 20?
Thank you!
Yes,
start with checking your module’s sensitivity and velocity curves for drums and cymbals.
Then you can make adjustments in Superior 2 for further refinement. See the manual for info regarding the Velocity Ctrl. transformer.
