TD-12 — Alesis i/o — DFHS2.0 :: Where to begin?

Just got my Alesis i/o and hooked up my TD-12.

I found the Mapping > Presents > MIDI > E-Drums preset in Toontrack Solo.

All the basic hits are working fine but it wasn’t “out of the box” ready. For ex., Toms 1 & 2 both triggered the same drum, the cymbal chokes don’t work, hitting Tom 3 is also triggering a crash (not sure if it’s cross-talk or a bad setup). I haven’t even plugged in the hi-hat yet.

So I’m a bit at a loss for how to proceed.

Are there maps I can download that will get me closer? Do I need to scour forums for the next 2 weeks to get the finer points working? Am I missing something obvious?

Any advice would be appreciated. I’m ready to do the homework, I just don’t know what to study.

First, make sure you’re running the latest versions of your products (version 2.2.3 of S2 and version 1.3.0 for Solo).

Then, you can check the latest S2 manual Chapter 7 LIVE APPLICATIONS for how to use the ‘Learn’ feature as well as the other features for edrum use.

Okay, good to know.

Would it be better to tweak the Alesis to send what the Superior mapping expects so it’s done once and I can rely on any default Superior installation to work w/ my kit?

Also, is there a reason why templates couldn’t be made for the more common setups? Not bitching, just wondering.

It’s not very tedious to select the kit piece articulation, hit the ‘Learn’ button, and hit your edrum to assign the couple of mis-triggering pieces.

The ‘E-drums’ preset on the S2 Mapping page (Presets->Note Mapping) as well as the Pedal Correction presets should get users most, if not all, of the way to ‘EZ’ setup.
