Hello!
I have owned Superior Drummer 3 for several months now (still very new to the program). I recently saw the announcement for EZ Drummer 3. One of the features that caught my attention for EZ Drummer 3 was the “Bandmate” feature where you can drop in an audio track and the software will pump out an automated drum track based on the track you put in. Does that feature exist within Superior Drummer 3? If so, I have not stumbled across it yet. Being that I am not a drummer, that would be something that would be very helpful for my songwriting and that I am highly interested in that specific feature. Additionally, since I already own Superior Drummer 3, what would the benefits if any be for picking up EZ Drummer 3?
Thanks in advance!

Thanked by: TrebleHookJust replying again on how salty I am about not having Bandmate in Superior Drummer 3 lol Come on just do it!!!!!
This would be great – I just purchased EZ Keys2 and love the BandMate feature in there. It would be an amazing addition to SD3
If you don‘t wanna add Bandmate to Superior Drummer how about a cheaper crossgrade offer to add EzDrummer to the collection?
EZD 3 is newer while SD 3 is fairly old at this point. Maybe it’s time for SD 4?
not before EZGuitar though… release that first.
Hi guys, of course you are perfectly free to add your voices to request new features in Toontrack products, but I do not understand the referring of SD3 as “the premium” product and EZD3 as a “lesser” product.
The two have different target groups and as such have different feature sets. If they had the same feature sets, what would be the purpose of them being different products?
SD3 is geared more towards producers, studios and E-drummers who need the extra tweaking options, bells and whistles.
EZD3 gets you good sounding drums without any fuzz.
SD3 users “in general” tend to create their own MIDI or record people creating the drum MIDI live with other musicians.
EZD3 lets the user explore the existing MIDI and creatively modify it with Edit Play Style, the Grid Editor and of course Bandmate.IMHO they are both premium products. Different target groups.
BR,
John
If neither is a premium product why are you able to cross grade from EZD3 to SD3, but not visa versa. As a SD3 user I would love to get EZD3 at the upgrade price. I want the bandmate feature… but EZD3 doesn’t offer enough over SD3 to justify full price.
Not having Bandmate in Superior is really dumb. I’m currently giving EZ Drummer 3 a trial run because I am specifically drawn to the Bandmate feature. It isn’t just useful as a “quick” way to get a beat for your song (whether for a “beginner” or more “advanced” user, or whatever that explanation above was about regarding different target audiences). It’s also about generating ideas. Sometimes you just want to throw your audio in and see what it comes up with. I like what I’m seeing in EZ Drummer 3, but from what I’ve seen/heard/researched of Superior, I’d rather buy Superior, for it’s flexibility, sounds, etc. And I’m one of those buyers that would rather get the higher end product first time around. (And yes, it’s obviously “higher end” if it’s $399 v $179 (again, –whatever that explainer was about from the moderator above…). BUT because EZD3 has bandmate, I’m going to get EZD3 instead of Superior. So Toontrack just lost a higher end sale for the simple stupid reason that Superior doesn’t have Bandmate. I wonder how many other sales they have lost because of that? So, they are either really dumb or they know this, and as some have suggested, they are playing a game, expecting buyers to buy in at $179 and then pay another $319 to crossgrade/upgarde when Superior gets Bandmate (if ever…). Either way, they are either being dumb or greedy. Not a good look.

Thanked by: GallloSD3 is a more advanced product than EZD3… but it’s also a much older product. It was released before they came up with bandmate.
I would expect SD4, if ever released, to have Bandmate.
I think it’s pretty bogus that Toontrack allows EZ users to cross grade to Superior and get a special pricing but they won’t give SD3 users any sort of loyalty pricing on EZ3… especially when we have the more expensive product. I would probably buy a copy of EZ3 if I got a discount… I’m not paying full price just for bandmate though.
