Hi,
I have few questions about Superior Drummer 3 before buying it.
Those questions are:
1 – TRIAL VERSION – Does Superior Drummer 3 have a trial version? I know that EZDrummer has it, but not sure about Superior Drummer 3. And it’s a little hard to spend $319 with a software that you cannot test before buying it.
2 – ADDING MORE PIECES TO A KIT – How expandable are the drum kits? I have a big electronic drum set, and my plan is to have a configuration similar to the attached image + one additional snare + two octobans. What I mean is: does the kit in the image support adding three more pieces to it? The experience that I have with the trial version of EZDrummer was that it’s hard to add new pieces to an pre-existing kit. Is that the same with Superior Drummer? Does it have a limit of supported drum pieces at the same time? It not, how can I add new pieces to a kit?
3 – REPLACING SOUNDS – Giving the attached image, may I replace a cymbal in the kit with another electronic sounds (i.e., octoban, snare, etc) and trigger that from a e-pad, or are cymbals in the kit only limited to cymbal sounds? It would work in a case when I can’t add new sounds to an existing kit.
4 – REMAPING SOUNDS TRIGERED BY E-PADS – On EZDrummer I had some issue remaping sounds between my electronic pads (my floor tom was playing the hi-hat and the floor tom at the same time). And it was hard to fix that in EZDrummer, I was not able for doing that and I gave up. Is that improved in Superior Drummer? I know that it has “Advanced e-drum support” (as the web page says), but what are the improvements? How better are they?
5 – OCTOBANS AND OTHER SOUNDS – Does it have octoban sounds by default? I know that it has 350 sounds on it, but what are those sounds? Is there a list with all those sounds?
Thanks for the help.

For what it’s worth:
I was wondering the same thing about having a trail from SD3. Maybe because the download is so big, toontrack doesn’t allow for it. Still, having a limited SD3 trail would have been great, especially for edrummers.
You can easily remap your input “notes” to different sounds, but most likely you won’t need to because SD3 has a great triggering engine with a ton of presets for a lot of different hardware. Those presets need very little adjustment.
The ADDING MORE PIECES TO A KIT point is a valid one, unfortunately SD3 doesn’t allow you to easily add more sounds or kit pieces. It’s kind of ridiculous, really.
