I stupidly upgraded this morning! I’m in the middle of a two important mixes and now my drums have stopped working!!! Aarrgghh!!!
I am fuming! Mainly at myself I should have known better. :-/ The support is not back until Monday! :'(
Has anyone upgraded with out a problem?
This is what I did
I updated my Superior Drummer 3.0 (SD3) to the latest version this morning using the Product Manager. I let it guide me through the update and installation Now I can’t get SD3 to work at all. When I investigate I see the message in attached file Error1.png.
There were only two updates given, SD3 Upgrade and the Part 1 Basic Sound Library. Both downloaded and installed successfully. All the indications from Product Manager report a fully working and updated SD3 version.
I installed my SD3 on an external SSD drive which you can see in image Installation1png. It appears that the SD3 dll did not update. The date of the dll file did not change (25/09/17) When I check in Cubase it reports the previous version: 3.0.1. See image PlugInManager1.png. I have searched my machine but there is no other SD 3.dll.
I have a deadline to meet and I’m now stuck with songs to work on and no drums!
Why does the Product Manager say everything is up-to-date and Ready To Use…. when it isn’t!?
Any help welcome 🙂
Regards
Kevin
Does the standalone work? If so, choose Show Plug-In Path from the Help menu, add that path to the VST search paths in Cubase and delete the file C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3ToontrackSuperior Drummer 3.dll.

Hi Olof,
I have just tried that. My SD3.dll is on my S drive (see image). I placed S: in the Plug-in path and deleted the file at the C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3Toontrack location.
I changed the path to S: by the Plug in Manager Settings (gear wheel icon) and when I flipped back to the Show Plugin Information (i icon) the path remain unchanged! and shows the previous SD3 version number (3.0.1).
No! Wait!…
I just restarted Cubase Pro 9.0
Sorry YES!!! it is working!
Thank you so much Olof

I had the same problem, but I had solved it by the time I read this and will use my method again when updating SD3 in future.
I started by searching all my drives for every instance of the Superior Drummer 3.dll file. Having located them I erased them all and re-started the PC. I then uninstalled the Superior Drummer 3 program and re-started the PC again. I then checked both the Cubase 9 and 9.5 VST managers to make sure there was no sign of SD3 either in the authorised or blacklist sections. Having confirmed this I used the download manager to install the latest version.
After I re-started the PC again I opened Cubase 9.5 and then a project that used SD3 and found to my relief that everything was as it should be. The conflict between the SD3 dll file and the application versions was gone and the program was already on the authorised VST list and did not need to be activated from the blacklist. Furthermore, probably because I used the Toontrack download manager there was no need to re-activate SD3 for use on my PC. Finally just to say that when you uninstall SD3 using the ‘Programs and Features’ utility in the Control Panel, fear not, as your many gigabytes of sounds are left untouched!
