Hello –
I just ordered Superior Drummer 2 (SD 2) and a few extra drum packs. It is still in the mail. It seems that SD 2 is compatible with my two audio recording/sequencing programs, Logic Pro X (LPX) and MOTU’s Digital Performer 9 (DP 9). This is good. However, I tend to use VSL’s VEPro 5 with DP 9 for larger templets. VEPro 5 is an important program used in most of my projects. So, are there any known issues in housing SD 2 within VEPro 5? If so, what are those issues?
Here is my setup:
Refurbished 2009/2010 MacPro (3.33 Ghz x 12 Cores) with 32 GBs RAM, OS X 10.11.2; lots of internal and external SSDs; MOTU’s 2408 MK3 audio device; AKAI MPK 88 keyboard controller.
Late 2012 Mac Mini (2.6 GHz i7) 16 GB RAM; OS X 10.11.2; internal/external SSDs; MOTU’s 828 MK3.
Thank you for any thoughtful input regarding my question.
Follow Up
I’ve been spending a little time creating a new and larger progressive rock/orchestral templet using SD 2, VEPro 5 and MOTU’s Digital Performer 9. So far, so good. After configuring SD 2 to my liking and housing it in VEPro 5, it seems that the configured information is properly saved when saving VEPro 5’s “Metaframe”. Additionally, so far there are no crashes when using SD 2, VEPro 5 and DP 9 together.
Hope this is helpful for others considering the purchase of SD 2 to be “housed” within VEPro 5. I wish that Toontrack would include information on whether or not SD 2 is properly compatible with VEPro 5. At least, for my modest needs, all seems well. . . So far, so good.
