    Hi,

    since all samples used are loaded into RAM, the USB speed only matters when you load a library. I.e. there is no disk streaming.
    Make sure you have sufficient RAM.

    Which version of OS X are running? I believe SD3 requires 10.6 and above.

    El Capitan, OSX 10.11.6 with 16Gb RAM, about to increase it to 24Gb.
    I don’t want to add too much because of heating issues.

    AND, I have just found I can also insert USB 3.1 with PCIe card.

    2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Running El Capitan, OSX 10.11.6 with 16Gb RAM, about to increase it to 24Gb.
    I don’t want to add too much because of heating issues.

    You won’t believe what I throw at her….two 2TB hard drives and one 3TB hard drive and another hard drive of 4TB.
    She just keeps going and going…….
