I need some help! I havent used my Roland PM-16 midi interface in about 20 years, and I just got a Alesis SR-16 to hook up to it and makes some noise with a couple of drum pads I have. Last time I used the PM was with a Korg DDD-5 that didnt sound too good but was easy to hook up. Im not familiar wth the SR and I’ve forgotten everything else! So I cant tell what setttings I have wrong…the drum machine, interface or both??
Midi settings for the SR-16… Drum in on V1, Drum out, Clock In, Clockout, MidiThrough, Prg Chng…..ON or OFF??? And Midi in note triggering what pad? Omni On/OFF or Poly?
Now the interface, forget about it! Midi channell is flashing…there’s Bank buttons to push, patches to edit…note# prog # chanel, input channel, Threshold, gate time….input a channel or input all? Midi, Copy, Write buttons, level/name….I can’t get it to make any drum noise…do I have one little setting wrong or is it all messsed up? Ah! I just found where the PM-16 is telling me, to get the midi sound source to emit sounds when I hit a pad connected to it, at least the midi channel and note number must be set…Well, Im burnt! I got a little trigger light to flash when I hit the pad but still no sound…..anybody have any advice before I go completly mad?
thanks
mike
Hello,
1st) move the weel to have the note number (should be number 38).
2) When you hit your pad or piezzo, you should see the input blinkling at top right
3) with arrow, select the number and change it with weel
4) if done press write to save your assignment
If you power off, wait 5 min and power on and see your settings gone, this is a Battery pb.
Very simple to change and very cheap (CR2032 solder on board) even you send it to repair company.
1) Unscrew all under and at the back.
2) unscrewn the big metal ribbon
3) you should have access to the input board and see the battery solder on the board.
4) Unsold it, put a new one bough from radioshark for example. Or nicest way , put a CR2032 socket and add the new battery. It more simple to change the barttery in the future.
That’s all
