Sound library updates – What actually is updated?

I’ve never got around to asking this, but now’s a good time since I have an upgrade pending (‘sound library update’ v121 for EZD2).

When Toontrack update a ‘Sound library’ for an expansion or core library, what actually is being updated?

Have the actual drum samples been tweaked? The mixer effects? The Presets? Fixes errors in the way the library was compiled?

And I guess the ultimate question is… will a sound library update affect the sound or mix in existing projects?
