Hello to all.
Some quick background: The last time a did solo, home recording was before affordable DAWs and the cutting edge tech was the Alessis HR-16 and a Tascam reel to reel 8-track.
I recently tried a demo of EZ Drummer and was blown away by the sounds and groove. The problem I had was that the preset patterns never worked for what I wanted and I had to constantly tweak individual hits. This became too time consuming.
Archaic as it seems, I missed the old Alessis method of building patterns from scratch (with quantizing if needed) and the assembling patterns into songs. While the drag and drop of presets may be a quick and easy solution for many, I far prefer to construct the entire drum tracks from scratch. Is this possible with either EZ or Superior? I do have an inexpensive trigger pad, but no keyboard. I can use GarageBand, Logic Express or Logic.
I appreciate any help as I would love to use Toontrack products.
Thanks.
With EZ and Logic you have the worlds best drum machine ever imaginable .
You can play in single hits or two/three finger note parts and overdub,re-edit,loop,change velocity and quantise all or just one note played in via your trigger pad.So the skies the limit .
all drum samples are mapped to midi note numbers, which makes them available to any midi controller, however you decide to use it…
the included [unquantized] grooves are but a hint at how genuine drummers would use the drums: an invaluable teaching aid for non-drummers like me, especially for realistic fills!
I use a [M-audio] trigger finger to enter my own drum-parts in Logic, to be played with EZdrummer
I still have my old [Alesis] D4 module somewhere: I’ve simply switched to a far better drum kit…
