Now, i have some experience with EZ drummer 1 and packs
i can give some advices for those who want a rock snare drum sound
i have listened to many many many demos for a rock snare drum in the website and with youtube
I wanted the best rock sound ever re created (not buying EZ2 cos i think i don’t need that or later cos’ the mapping is a problem with most EZ packs and Apple)
So, i have 3 softwares and it’s enough for me at this time
The EZD1 pop rock is great : it sounds rock, agressive snare drum, it sounds like Phil Collins for example in 1990 1992 live
think about the songs like “fading lights live” or t”he west side live 1990″
it’s better than Garage band band : it sounds more natural
with EZD pop rock 1: it’s great for all rock musics from foo fighters to Phil Collins to the Police with Copeland
You don’t have 10 sounds but it’s enough : some are soft, the others are rock’n’roll !
Second, i have the ROCK pack: it’s different and i could think it sounded more natural : less or more hard vs EZD 1 pop rock ? hard to say that )
very versatile and different with 7 sounds for the Rock pack ( 8 but 7 are very good)
the Rock pack has a lot incredible bass drum sounds: the bass drum pedal is really modern (think about metallica a little bit)
and it was not the same with EZD1 and pop rock which was special
Here the bass drum pedal sounds modern, bright so, not like Bonham at all !
All these packs have not the Bonham sounds at all : some others kit are better for that
Then i tried the Nashville pack: only 2 snare drums : one is very good
the other is softer
the others are brushes or hand drumming
In the rock and NAsvhille pack there are china cymbals (it’s not written in the rock pack but it sounds like a china cymbal)
Against the mapping problems, the best is EZD1 pop rock 1 : it has some problems but not dramatic vs the rock and Nashville pack (which can not sound at all if the mapping is not changed manually )
For me (except the metal pack)) the next pack would be the alt rock because the snare drum is very loud !
and EZD 2 to mix all what we want = one snare drum from the alt rock pack and one bass drum pedal of the Rock pack for example : )
