Small home studio: MIDI controllers that I can whack with some drum sticks

Without going into full blown kit, I’d quite like to be able to have a bass drum and snare combo on my desk to lay some of my own grooves down and use them to search similar grooves in EZD (or just to build on). I’m just after a couple of MIDI controllers that I can whack with some drum sticks – I don’t particularly want built in sounds as I have EZD 🙂

Any recommendations?
