The manual is only available online, because of many reasons, where one is that we don’t want users to end up with old, not updated, manuals.
If you want to, you can save the web page and read it offline. In Google Chrome (for example), there is a menu item “More Tools” > “Save Web Page As…”. You should save every chapter as it’s own web page (so one page for “0.Introduction”, one page for “1.Installation” etc.). This can also be printed if one prefers to read it the old fashion way 🙂

this is actually the best way to make sure only 2 or 3 users worldwide will end up with a usable manual.

I’m one of the very few old guys who have some experience with mht, helps me none when the website blocks around 100 images from downloading.
pdf is a gold standard everybody and their dog can use, don’t cheap out on such basic essentials.
    especially as SD3 doesn’t even have a built-in help system …

My studio has no internet connection and will never have one, it’s a workplace, not a kiddie entertainment center.
So what am I supposed to do ?
write down every question that might come up, stop work, send the clients home, call it a day and look up the answer at home, without the software in front of me, and start from scratch the next day (if the clients come back) ?

    unbelievable,

I am sorry, but I have to agree. I bought SD3 yesterday. I live in the country and my slow dsl (12Mbps) means that I am still downloading the sounds, mics, bleeds, surround, and surround height. I am really not happy that I cannot read the manual in .pdf format while I download the giant program. This could have been added as a separate file.

While I understand both sides of the argument, I also know that the .pdf is a promotional tool, as well. It could help Toontrack sell products. What is there to lose, really? This will be construed as bad public relations by many.

And it even says ‘Superior Drummer 3 Operation Manual.pdf.” But when you click it, it wants to take you to Toontrack website and makes you login!?! WTF? I do not want my DAW on the net and when I need to know what the hell to do I expect better than this! Yes, I am complaining on every post about this issue – because it is that serious…

Toontrack: You never did this before, and the product seems amazing, thus far. Do not blemish your reputation with this oversight.

I totally agree with those that have posted so far (except Henrik). I keep all my user manuals in .pdf format in “Good Reader” on the iPad in my Music Room. SD3 is the only software application that doesn’t have the User Guide in .pdf. I hope the program itself is better then the download experience (2 days to download/install an application?) and the lack of easy to use user manual.Yell

    Yes.
Please give us the manual as a PDF.

(I own 21 Toontrack products, this is the most complex. I have to have PDF manuals to read them on the bus, phone, bed, iPad etc. We are big and clever enough to get the new manual when you update the software.)

You are really fix something that is not broken here.10

I have to agree. I often work offline from the web hence a web based manual is of no use. Please, Please can we have a proper PDF manual please.

This online sh*t is why i recently did not but Active Drummer 2 but SD3 instead; the sounds and midis of AD2 are fine, but you can only work online with it. F

I added links to the Table of Contents to take you to the page/section in the PDF, it only took all day to make:

Thanks a lot! I was also looking for the PDF to read it offline.
I also don’t like the login before you can access the online documentation. Pressing F1 or Help | Operation Manual should be easily accessible, otherwise people won’t read the valuable documentation.

I have to agree with others. This is the FIRST music software company I’ve run across that makes DOCUMENTATION require a log-in.

If anything, Toontrack should be using the docs as a sales tool, not walling it off. It’s not like yer giving away any military secrets.

I also agree and do not understand why the access to the manual is so complicated. This is not user friendly!

I just bought Addictive Drummer 2 + some packages especially in a 50% deal for the out of the ordinary & weirder ones LoL. Great sound and nice midi grooves but as said you can only use it with an online computer. So worse than Toontrack stuff: it’s not even installable if you’re offline. As i had EZdrummer 2 etc already, for it’s fast and easy workflow especially, besides Groove Agent 4. So now i am into SD3, and grateful towards Bob, for the above manual conversion … J
