Hi guys, I have a huge library of EDM drum samples. Normally I use NI Battery, but I now see that SD3 gives me the ability to easily import these sounds to layer or replace SD3 instruments. Pretty cool, I love it. However, the inability to preview selected sounds in the Import Audio Files window is proving to be a huge workflow disruption. Until the selected sample is actually imported into SD3 I cannot tell what it is. It would be nice if this possibility could be added (like it is in the Search For Instrument Window. In fact it would be really cool if all my drum samples could be tagged within SD3 and I could just browse with the same ease that is possibile when browsing the SD3 Library.
So that’s it, otherwise awesome programme. SD3 rocks and I’m loving it. Haven’t used AD Drums, Groove Agent 4, Perfect Drums or my Realitone Drummer since I bought it. This is the one stop shop I’ve been waiting for all my life. Thanks for making such a great product.
Peace, love and SD Drums
Thanks for the feedback. Nice to hear that we have some EDM users! I am one myself, and we wanted to make this software usable for many different genres.
We designed the import audio file workflow based on that users listen to their samples in Finder on Mac (or Explorer in Windows), and then import it. Although – it’s not a bad idea to have a preview in the import dialog. We’ll look into that…
Having more options in the Search for Instrument, like importing and tagging custom sample audio files is also a thing we have explored but not yet implemented. We’ll continue to investigate that area too…
We can’t, however, say when or if these things will end up in SD3…
