I use an Alesis Trigger IO to connect to my SD2. The Alesis has support for continuous hi hat control (so te hi hat makes “semi closed” sounds, not just closed or open). However I cannot figure out how to get my hi hat to work this way. Everything mapped automatically and correctly in SD2, but it only sounds either closed or open, there are no “in between” sounds for the semi closed hi hat.
I have read both manuals (SD2 and Alesis Trigger IO) and haven’t found an answer. The SD2 manual has an area for hi hat mapping and mentioned that some brain modules need you to change the HatsCtrl to either CC01 or CC04. The Alesis manual doesn’t mention anything like this. I tried changing the “key” from CC4 to CC1, just to give it a shot, but it didnt seem to change anything.

I should also mention that I did not understand this part of the SD2 manual “The HatsTrig values must match the notes (and ALL the notes) sent by your module when you hit your hi-hat pad.”
ANYONE???
I have the same issue with S2 and Trigger IO. I have tried all the above and followed the steps here: http://www.graysonkilmer.com/2015/09/03/how-to-setup-the-hi-hat-pedal-in-superior-drummer-2
Is support around? Can ANYONE help????
I have the same problem. Do you guys ( hookiefree or elgrayso ) figure out how to fix it? I am using Cubase and this is a photo of my Hi Hat Data:
But the sound is always Open Hi Hat…
Last year I spent several hours decoding the manual and putting together an elaborate explanation of the process [ http://www.graysonkilmer.com/2015/09/03/how-to-setup-the-hi-hat-pedal-in-superior-drummer-2 ] . This covers pretty much the whole scope of the process in much more elaborate detail than their confusing manual page.
If your note is triggering the wrong sample, if could be assigned as the wrong sample somewhere. As you see in my instructions, there are a couple places it could be setup incorrectly. I haven’t messed around with this software since last year so I don’t think I will be able to guide you beyond that.
1. This is an open forum for discussion of e-drums in general.
If you want support for using e-drums with Toontrack products
you should post your questions in the appropriate support
forum for the Toontrack sampler in question.
2. elgrayso, although I like that you write pages with instructions
for our software and try to help our users, I need to point out
that the instructions found in that link are far from describing
the most efficient way of using Superior Drummer. The last
part for ‘Pedal Correction’ is ok but the other stuff is not.
E.g., you can right-click to select an Articulation in the
Mapping tab or view all mapped notes for an Articulation.
No need for the cumbersome workflow you suggest.

My instructions attempt to decode the process that is barely glazed over in the manual (with almost no screenshots) and very vague descriptions of complicated processes. My instructions may not be perfect, but I often get emails thanking me that I finally made sense of the extremely painful and overly unintuitive process of hi-hat setup Superior Drummer forces onto it’s users. And yeah, I would love if Superior Drummer provided a clear and intuitive way of mapping these things, or if they merely would help it’s users by describing the process in detail so that it makes sense.
In the meantime, my blog post will continue to help users of your product manage make enough sense of this convoluted process so that they can spend less time scratching their heads and troubleshooting, and more time playing the drums.
If you would like to improve Superior Drummer (which is a great product overall), please have your developers read my walk-through, which points out some of the overly confusing and unintuitive steps it’s users are left to figure out. The process might make sense to the developers, but to the average user, it’s a mess.
Yes, and I thank you for your effort. I am a developer and I have read
through that page and I can tell that it is misleading. Please post
in http://www.toontrack.com/forum/superior-help/ and I can help
you improve it.

elgrayso, I was using your web page before coming cross this thread. I want to thank you for giving it a shot, which is and remains something that Toontrack should have done. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. I’ve been trying for probably 2 weeks, since I purchased the SD2, to make my Alesis DM10 Hi-Hat work with SD2 with no luck. It’s astounding that there is not 1, I mean ONE! clear set of instructions on how to properly map DM10 Hi-Hat –> SD2 (laptop) –> AMP, for customers who are not audio/production engineers. Especially since this is an issue that many users seem to struggle with. Very frustrating and annoying!!!
