Hi,
I just recently purchased SD 2.0, and I’m still learning the basics of it. I have a question. Just so I can get a feel to what I am adjusting in the mixer, I’m curious to know what mic position each channel is supposed to emulate. Some are obvious, but for example, Im not sure what “KD In”, “KD out”, or “KD sub” are supposed to be… I know they are kick drum mics, but where they are placed, I dont know. My guess is “KD in” is a mic placed in the kick drum, and “KD out” is a mic placed outside, maybe at the port hole? No clue what “KD sub” is…. Can anyone clarify? Thanks in advance!
KD Sub is the old trick of using a speaker wired backwards so it acts like a microphone. The frequency response of this mic basically picks up the really low stuff (sub).
And yes, ‘Kick In’ is a mic placed inside the kick and ‘Kick Out’ is a mic placed just outside the kick.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. Same basic idea that Yamaha uses for their SubKick drum mic… Cool!
