Due to lucky circumstances I’ll get a brand new TD-20X module (I’m currently using a TD-9) this week.
Now, the TD-20X supports positional sensing (and yes, so do my pads). But is that working when using MIDI?
Am I right that positional sensing will not be usable with SD 2?
yes, positional sensing works via MIDI, continuous controller messages to be exact. And yes, it will work in Superior, as far as you are triggering a library that contains both center and edge samples, the core library being one.

oh, cool! I know almost nothing about MIDI, unfortunately
Okay, I’m using Metal Foundry. Do I have to set up something special to use pos. sensing?
Thx!
If you right click on your snare, then go to the instrument pane in the bottom right hand corner of the construction window, select snaretrig from the articulation dropdown, press the ‘learn’ button and hit your snare you should be set up for positional sensing. The TD-20 normally sends MIDI CC16 for snare positional sensing which S2 has setup as default so you shouldn’t need to do anything else. To check however you can select snarectrl from the articulation dropdown and make sure it is set to CC16.
The alternative would be to go to the mapping tab and select the ‘edrum’ preset, which will ensure your hats, snare (with positional sensing) and most other notes are mapped correctly
