We try to cover most of the common time signatures in all MIDI packs that we release. Somehow it feels better to do that instead of releasing packs oriented to certain time signatures. So there is 3/4 grooves in basically all packs, as well as 6/8.

    Hi Martin

Thanks for your reply. Please don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t suggesting dedicating a whole pack to a certain time meter, the way you guys do them presently is great. What I was trying to get across is that while there is 3/4 meter in just about every pack, none of it has thus far covered just a basic 3/4 groove, no frills – think Shine On You Crazy Diamond. I couldn’t find anything useable at this point in time, across both 3/4 and 6/8, to arrive at a simple 3/4 Nick Mason type of thing.

Hopefully that makes a little bit more sense 🙂

Thanks again for taking your time to reply and thank you for the great products.

Have you checked out the ‘Custom & Vintage’ midi?

I agree with the thread starter. The rock grooves are very comprehensive, but all of the 3/4 grooves have 2 snare hits in every bar. There are so many modern rock songs in this meter, but the grooves sound like old-time waltz or polka.

There’s a varied selection of 3/4 and 6/8 grooves, simply played in the C&V midi.

Thanks Whitten. Is there any way to preview grooves in MIDI or add-ons before you buy?

If I bought one of the more rock/metal orientated packs, would that have better 6/8 3/4 stuff becuae there is more of that meter in the metal genre?

@antibiotic….you posted this thread a long time ago so you’ve probably found this already, but if you mess around with the tempo subdivisions in EZdrummer and your DAW software (I use ProTools), you can get some nice, sparse grooves in the 6/8 section. The only problem is that since you’re playing most stuff in half the designed tempo, you won’t get much going on in the hi-hats/ride, but it’s a good enough basis for adding your own embellishments.
