Anyone have an easy way to reformat your system HD and recover but without using time machine?
Somewhere I installed software that is causing my iMac to restart in the middle of my work Super frustrated about this. The re-install of all my SD3 libraries is a real task. Any thoughts on having to do this all again?

I do use an external. The issue for me is just general hassle of remembering to install everything manually and running out of installs for software.
Never had this issue (iMac crashing and restarting) before (in 25 years of being a Mac user)

Ok, I got your question right afterwards and edited my comment before your replied (I don’t know how to delete it).
I’m sorry.
While I’m here:
Yes in theory, you can do that but only if you created a backup disk image before the problem occurred.
Now if you do and it’s because of a software, you’ll just backup the problem as well…
And I’m fairly sure that you’ll take more time managing a disk image now than re-install your libraries anyway.
But yes, once you’ve done the tedious work of re-installing everything, I strongly suggest that you make one of these for the next time, if any.
Good luck!
