I seem to be having trouble recording my Yamaha DTXtreme IIs electronic kit into EZ drummer using a USB connection.
EZ Drummer recognizes my kit and when I am playing the drums it reads and plays back every hit no problem. When I hit record, I can still hear every hit without any problems. However, when I finish recording and I go playback the audio that I just recorded, not all of my hits were recorded. It seems very odd to me that the program has no issue playing back all the notes when I’m playing but doesn’t record all of them. Any ideas on what might be the problem?
I dont use EZ Drummer 2, but I know it has a quantize feature. do you maybe have that turned on for recording? if you have quantize set and you’re not playing what it’s set to, dropped notes are what usually happens.
Are you using EZdrummer 1 or 2?
If it’s EZD2: do you record the MIDI on EZdrummer 2’s song track or in your DAW?
If you record it in EZdrummer 2 – can you drag the MIDI to a DAW and check the MIDI if notes are missing?

I use EZ Drummer 2 and record it into the EZ Drummer 2 song track. I will try dragging it into reaper and check for missing MIDI notes..
The quantize feature sounds like it could be the issue but I’m not sure quite how it works. I was just testing it out with my computer (as I am not home at the moment to test it with the drums) and I can’t turn it on or off for recording as it doesn’t allow me to click on any of the quantize options, but once it is recorded I can quantize the recorded track to 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/4 triplet, 1/8 triplet, and 1/16 triplet which results in dropped notes. Once I choose one of those however, I don’t know how (if it is possible) to return it to normal or undo the quantize. From what I was experiencing with my E-Drums, it seemed as if when I was recording with them it would automatically quantize the track or something.. which again, I don’t see an option to turn it on or off before recording or to undo the quantize.
