I’ve been a Superior user since it was released, but I’ve always used a keyboard to play in hits in real-time, followed by heavy step-time editing. I’m not looking for an e-drum kit, I don’t have the space and I’m not a drummer. What I’d like is something like the TrapKat or DrumKat i.e. a relatively small, one-piece unit that I can hit with sticks (pedal input for kick and hh too), which has the sensitivity required to address Superior’s soundset properly and has a handful of pads, enough for a very basic kit. The trouble is, I think the Alternatemode products, cool though they may be, are hellish overpriced for what they are (over $1000 for the DrumKat – crazy) and I can’t justify that kind of spend. Anyone got any recommendations for cheaper options that will do a reasonable job?
