Just got the email about the Superior crossgrade now including an Extra SDX for Feb. Thats awesome. Of course I already bought the Superior crossgrade 2 weeks ago in the January sale. This irks me greatly as of course for the extra $50 I woulda waited and got another SDX. I’m a real loyal customer here, and have a pretty good chunk invested in Toontrack. Why would ya’ll do it this way? I mean it’s great you’re havin’ a sale, and I guess I’m just annoyed.
Why wouldn’t you offer the SDX to the loyal customers at a sale price? Especially the ones who are now kinda being punished for jumping to soon on the first sale.
I don’t normally rant about this kinda thing, but this one irritates me.
Tru Dat! I would have def. waited! Really bummed about this timing. It would be nice for those who took advantage of the $150 Crossgrade to have the option to add an SDX for the extra $50. Maybe others can’t do the extra $50. If this were to happen, C&V is all mine…..er wait New York Vol. 2 is all mine…….er…..Music Ci……anyway, it would be dang cool. Hope this reaches someone!
I’d do it right now too. I’d love to have another SDX kickin’ around but I just can’t do it at $179.00 right now. I already have Drumtracker, EZ Drummer, EZ Player pro and a few EZX’s plus a midi pack. I figure that’s bein’ a reasonably loyal customer. I just kinda feel like I’m bein’ punished for upgrading last month to Superior whereas I could have waited just a touch longer.
This isn’t a future deal breaker for me, but I really do hope someone takes a look this from ToonTrack
If Toon offered the upgrade deal in January, would people who bought it in December be angry?
I know what your saying. But on the other hand, IF Toontrack offered this deal next July, would I be irritated? Absolutely not. We’re talkin’ a space of 15 to 30 days here. In fact if they offered this deal in May, I still wouldn’t be irritated. But really—not even a month later? By their own email, they claim the sales response to last month’s deal was overwhelming so they decided to make it even more awesome for everyone else this month. I just don’t get it. Make the deal the same for everyone for 2 months. Again, I’m not real angry. But I gonna be honest, I feel kinda slapped in the face about this.
My point was all sales, discount deals and extra offers have to start on a specific date.
Anyone who happens to buy something the day previous to an announcement always loses out.
I agree that people do lose out if they don’t take advantage of the opportunity. However, doesn’t it stand to reason to offer the BEST deal first? Then as time goes by, if people are dragging their feet they lose out on the better deal. This is the other way around. I lost out because I acted too soon! Maybe next month there will be a Superior crossgrade plus 2 SDX’s for $225. A personal example of missing out: In December I did not act on the $50 dollar EZX deal. So, now when I look at the Sweetwater website I see that they are back to the original price. I missed out. The EZ drummer and the Superior products are different and can be still used together. However, it is a little hard to swallow to get an email offer that makes you not want to miss out on this great deal (which it was) only to find out that a greater deal for the exact same product was less than a month away. Its backwards. That is why I think it very reasonable for those who took advantage of the January offer to be able to get an SDX for the extra $50 since the response was so good. Why not reward those who helped make the overwhelming response what it was? I will pay the extra $50. I agree with Baritonedan that this isn’t a deal breaker for me as far as Toontrack is concerned. I love your products, I’m struggling with the “how and why” of what you are doing.
The more I think about this, the more it doesn’t sit well with me at all. If I wait until March, will you do the Superior Crossgrade/One SDX/EZ Player Pro deal for $229.00? I would really love to hear from someone at ToonTrack as to the train of thought on this deal……..
I’d like to see a sale that was aimed at customers that already own a slew of toon products. I have Ezdrummer with 5 or 6 ad-on packs, superior crossgrade and 2 sdx’s as well as ezmix. It would be nice for toontrack to say to people like me, “we have a new SDX and as a loyal customer you get dibs on it for 25% off.
Like, the more you already own, the more you save???
Just riffin. Love all these products and a bargain at twice the price anyway!
I’d love to see the Feb SDX sale offered to those who jumped early on the Superior crossgrade. I’d buy the serial # immediately as I have the VSSD box already. This has gotta be easy for T Track to do. And whats the diff? They are offering it now.
I know I’m harpin’ a bit on this, but I really wanna hear from someone at ToonTrack as to their sales train of thought for Jan and Feb.
I agree T T products are awesome and a great deal. That’s why I have invested reasonably heavy into these products. But fair is fair. Take care of the peeps who have been supporting this company.
I think we need to remember that Toontrack may not set all these sales up. They may offer a discount to retailers for a certain month or whatever, but it’s up to individual retailers how they participate. I’m not sure of the details as to how Toontrack does this.
But you will never see Toontrack matching those monthly sales on their own website, for instance. They will never undercut a retailer like that. It would be really bad business practice on their part.
MBP 2.4 GHz | 4GB RAM | OSX 10.6.8 Logic Pro 9.1.5 | Metric Halo LIO-8/4P | Apogee ONE SD 2.3.0 | EZP 1.1.0 | Drumtracker 1.0.2
Fair enough. Now would be the time for someone at ToonTrack to explain this. And to be clear–I’m not attacking here. I just wanna hear from a rep of ToonTrack. The emails and offers are coming directly from them.

Very good point. So I checked with my retailer about this to see if they could or would set it up to “grandfather” those who upgraded in Jan the benefit of the further upgrade of an sdx for $50. I was told that they were only allowed to sell the bundles together as they were sent to them. Thus, this does put the ball back into Toontrack’s court. Other companies face similar situations as well. For instance, Avid did something very similar to what I am asking Toontrack to do. Here is how it went: for those who had just upgraded to version 8 of pro tools shortly before version 9 came out, Avid grandfathered them into PT 9 for an extra $100. (fyi I was not one of those who upgraded to 9). The upgrade to 8 was $150 and for the extra $100 they were able to get the new release. That is what I call making it right for your users. Toontrack could sell an SDX for $50 to those who got serial numbers for the SD2 crossgrade in Jan. It is certainly in their purview and ability. It certainly begs the question to whether they got enough people to buy the crossgrade in Jan, so they had to make it even MORE attractive to upgrade with the subsequent offer. Now i realize that I am a nobody in the music world, however, if someone asks me about Toontrack I will say that they have amazing products yet with this one significant customer service reservation. However, If they make this right, I can continue to be a huge mouthpiece for Toontrack without ANY reservations! I love my crossgrade! However, I feel that they need to make this right. Maybe they are already working out a way to make this happen, I don’t know. Maybe not. And I’m done………………
Well, it’s been 5 days since the last post in this thread, and honestly, it’s RIDICULOUS that no one from ToonTrack will respond to this. Oh well, I still love the products, but this whole situation has changed me in regards to this company.
And further, how can I trust any deal at this point with ToonTrack–I mean I may as well keep waiting for the next best deal as opposed to takin’ advantage of the first deal that comes along. Of course if the next deal never comes along, I guess we both lose, huh ToonTrack?
