Hi,
I’m very interested in purchasing/using EZ Drummer and specifically Drumkit from Hell for my recordings. However, I am sort of new to this world and have some entry level questions.
1. Is there any sort of bundle deal for both the EZ Drummer software and the DFH plug in?
2. I just want to make sure I have the right equipment. I am currently running Windows 7 64 bit and have 8 gb of ram. I currently use Audacity to record and although I plan on purchasing Pro Tools down the line would EZ Drummer still work with Audacity? I also have a Yamaha keyboard with a midi output, however it is quite old and cheap, is it essential to have a MIDI device for the software?
3. I don’t have much experience programming drums, is the software accommodating for that?
Thank you very much!
I can’t answer all your questions but I can offer the following:
2. I don’t use Audacity but as long as it accepts Midi data you should be alright. Also, a MIDI keyboard is totally not needed to use this software.
3. This software is as easy as its name suggests. You don’t program any actual beats…you just drag and drop beats into your sequencer to arrange your drum track. Couldn’t be more simple.
Regarding Audacity and Windows 7 64 bit, you really need to check Toontrack’s supported hosts list before buying EZdrummer.
I don’t use either, but it’s also not true to say as long as your host supports midi you can use EZdrummer.
Secondly, just to clear up, yes EZdrummer comes with pre-programmed midi, but of course you CAN programme your own drum parts, or edit the midi Toontrack provides.
AFAIK Audacity doesn’t support VSTi (EZdrummer is a VSTi).
As Chris suggests above, check the EZdrummer product page (click the ‘Compatibility’ tab in the link below) for currently supported hosts:
