Hello! I had a question about installing SDX libraries for Superior Drummer 3. I know it’s up to me, but I basically don’t know where to install my libraries. Right now, I have the Metal Machinery and Avatar kits installed on my mac in applications (eventually would like to move those to my external SSD), but have Superior Drummer 3 installed on my external SSD drive.
I just bought the Progressive Foundry SDX and want to install it on my external SSD. My question is, I have a ‘Superior Drummer’ folder on my external SSD and upon clicking it, it has a ‘SL-SuperiorDrummer3’ folder. When you click that, it shows all of the contents and I assume that’s where all of the samples and installation stuff is for that library.
Now, for my Progressive Foundry SDX, would I choose the installation location to be the ‘Superior Drummer’ folder, and that would create a ‘SL-ProgressiveFoundry’ folder with all of the contents in it, or would I choose the ‘SL-SuperiorDrummer3’ folder to install everything in? I assume I should install it in the ‘Superior Drummer’ folder so it’ll show the ‘SL-SuperiorDrummer3′ and SL-ProgressiveFoundry’ folders with their respective contents to each library, correct? As, I assume if I made the installation destination ‘SL-SuperiorDrummer3’, that would put both of those libraries in the same folder and perhaps could cause a problem, especially for organization?
Really, you can put them anywhere you want. SD3 is very flexible in being able to have a separate pathway for each library. Some of my SDX’s were automatically installed into that SL-Superior Drummer 3 folder. However, when I installed the Orchstral SDX it was put outside that folder. I have just let the Toontrack installer decide where to put it. However, if SD3 has already located the new SDX, you can still move it to another location if you wish. After doing so, just set the pathway in the SD3 Settings/Libraries/Paths to the new location. This can be on any available drive. Most ToonTrack stuff works exactly the way that you intuitively think it would and works well. Which is really refreshing in a world where most things take hours to figure out.
Also, you should get the free 3.1.4 update.
