Hi,
Purchased EZdrummer 2 today – already have EZkeys Grand Piano which installed with no problems.
Entered product key OK, downloaded the 3.2GB (!) but when ever I try to install I get ‘Error 1303: The installer has insufficient privileges to access the directory C:ProgramDataToontrackEZdrummer’ despite that my user has Administrator privileges on a Windows 10 Pro machine. Checked permissions on the ProgramData folder and have full control….
Logged on as ‘Administrator’ opened Product Manager and found that the EZdrummer2 was available, but I would need to download the 3.2GB again – not really an option as I am a limited internet use and the previous download took around 4 hours anyway.
Has anyone experienced this problem? As I said, EZkeys installed without problems as my normal user?
Can I manually extract the previously downloaded zip file as Administratoir and then run the installer – again as Administrator? If so, will the status then change under Product Manager to ‘Installed’ when I then log in to Windows as my normal self?
Any help welcome
Thanks, Robin
Hi,
if you locate and extract the ZIP logged in as your regular user, then right-click the Installer exe and ‘Run as Admin’.
Does that work?

Hi John – thanks for the reply!
Yes, I’ve unpacked the zip file to my desktop and run the install logged on as Administrator with exactly the same results. Rechecked the permissions on the folder ProgramDataToontrack and both myself and Administrator have full control. When the installation failed, before hitting retry, I manually created a directory EZdrummer under Toontrack (similar to the EZkeys directory there), but retrying the install gave me an error trying to create the directory, presumably because it was already there.
It’s a bit catch 22 at the moment as the install isn’t able to create the directory, but I can. If I do, then the install fails because the directory exists.
My next option – after spending several hours on this – is to take the zip file to my second computer, also running Windows 10 Pro, and try to install there – if it works I’ll try to find differences between the 2 machines. I’ll kepp you posted…..
Just an update. I rechecked the permissions between my two Windows 10 computers. For my main computer, the folder Toontrack had Administrator and Robin (Me) with full control, with SYSTEM and Users also having full and partial control respectively. When I checked the music studio computer, both SYSTEM and Users were missing under permissions. I was able to update the permissions by restarting the computer in Safe Mode, logging on as Administrator and adding these 2 to the permissions table. After restarting in normal mode, I was then able to install both 64 and 32-bit versions of EZdrummer and authorise the product with no problems.
So it seems the problem was with Windows 10 somehow screwing up permissions. Worth remembering if anyone else has the same problem….
I have recently purchased EZdrummer2 and I just purchased EZKEYS bundle and it is saying Denied permission why? thank you. I purchased products from zzounds.com and sweetwater.com, I have the hard good products with the legit reg info card(s) denied permission?
My Best Regards
