Hello! I want to have our drummer be part of the recording and have him input his drumming into SONAR Expanded using my Casio LD-80 midi drum pad. It is clear from our first attempt that adjustments need to be made to have SD2.3 respond to his style. I have trouble interpreting the instruction manual and need your advice on how to correct the artifacts in our recording.
Although the drummer plays with a consistent intensity, the sounds triggered and played by SD2.3 have a large dynamic range and the kick and snare in particular play a soft and very loud sample on sequential hits that do not replicate his drum pad input. How do I adjust the drums so that the triggered sounds are more compressed, i.e., do not have such a large dynamic range.
Frequently, a snare hit on the drum pad triggers a drum roll from SD2.3 and not a single hit. Why is this happening and how do I prevent it?
Occasionally, a snare hit on the drum pad at an intensity consistent with most of the other hits but does not trigger a sound from SD2.3. Is this an issue with the Casio or SD2.3 and can I correct it?
Soft hits on the drum pad do not always send a midi input signal to SONAR. I do not see in the Casio manual that the pad sensitivity can be increased. Do you have any advice or do we just have to hit harder?
Thank you for your expert help!!!
