I have no problem building chords then selecting them and using the browser midi that comes with Grand EZkeys.
But I’m having a problem using the add on rack Pop/Rock.
With the Pop/Rock midi everything sounds good up until I hit “replace”. Once I do that the tempo changes (it’s faster). I can’t find anything that is causing this. The only thing I thought may have caused it is the checkbox for “preview in original tempo”. But it doesn’t matter if this is checked or not, I’m still getting a different tempo once I hit the replace button.
Can anyone give me some suggestions of what to do (the software is “all” updated to the latest).
thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Does the BPM window actually show a higher value,i.e it changes to a higher BPM?
What about the ‘follow host’ tab?
Bolarin
Hi Bolarin, thanks for replying!
I don’t think the BPM window changes, but then again I don’t know where that is. My host BPM doesn’t change, but the tempo change happens right inside EZkeys (before I drag it to the host). The “follow host” tab is selected.
thanks again,
Paul

Hi,
I would like to know what MIDI is already on the Song Track and which MIDI file you are using when you are using the Replace function.
Could you please make screen shots?

Thanks for the reply John.
I’m working a 12 hour shift, I’ll try to get a screenshot tonight.

As far as what midi is already on the song track, it is the following:
I build 4 chords, E, F#m, A, E
I then selected them all and chose “use midi browser”.
Then I dragged either variation 1 or variation 2 down to the song track.
Everything is fine up to that point. Once I hit “replace”, that is when the tempo changes.

The only way I can get a different tempo happening is when I have the ‘Preview in Original Tempo’ box checked.
Which version number is displayed in the plugin interface?
Can you tell me which MIDI file you are using to replace with?

The other thing that can change the tempo of the MIDI in EZkeys is if “Follow Host” is disabled in EZkeys. If you are using the host, you should have Follow Host enabled to make sure it uses the host’s tempo. But this shouldn’t (as John said) create a difference in tempo when previewing the MIDI with Use Browser MIDI vs when pressing “Replace” to make it end up on the song track…
Does this happen with all MIDI in Pop/Rock? Or only with some? Which ones in the latter case?

Hi John and Henrik,
I do have the “follow host” enabled. I’m finishing up four 12 hour day shifts today and I’m off tomorrow. I will try your suggestions tomorrow and take a screenshot if it still doesn’t work.
Thanks,
Paul

I think I found out what was going on. My host tempo is 100 BPM. Most of the files I was using in the original midi files were pretty close to that tempo and I never noticed much of a difference. The Pop/Rock midi file I liked and wanted was 57 BPM. So when I hit replace it brought that file up to 100 BPM and I found it too fast and preferred the original tempo.
So, I took off “follow host”, but it still brings it up to 100 BPM.
Which leaves me with the question “how do I keep it at the original tempo”?
Thanks for all your help!!

If you browse the library with “Preview In Original Tempo” checked and you find beat that you like (in that particular tempo as the preview), change the BPM of you host to the value that the MIDI file had. In the latter of your cases (the Rock/Pop MIDI), set the host tempo to 57 and it sounds the same as long as you have Follow Host enabled.
