Hi guys, hopefully someone can shed some light on an issue I’m having. I have a Yamaha dtxtreme 2 kit connected to Superior Drummer 2 via TTSolo. For some reason out of the blue this weekend during our rehearsal for church my crash turned into a hi hat mid song. I’ve never had that happen before. I made it through the song with another cymbal and decided to look at the issue before continuing. This has never happened before. I’ve restarted everything and checked cables.
I’m not using any other midi programs or devices other than my kit, SD2, and midi monitor to verify transmitted notes.
In superior drummer I have removed all notes to the entire hi hat (every sound from the drop down) and I’ve done the same with my crash cymbal.
Then I tested what note was being transmitted via midi monitor when I hit the pads. I should mention that my hats are dual zone. This is the info I’ve found.
My Yamaha kit sends this midi info:
Hats = G#-2, F#1
Hats tip/edge = A#-2, F#5
Hats CTRL = cc4
Crash = B4
In SD2 if I assign these notes (below) to the hats via learn button or by manually typing them in I get a perfect sounding Hi hat. No issues at all.
hatsTrig= G#-2, F#1
hatsTipTrig= A#-2, F#5
hatsCtrl= cc4
However, for some reason my Crash cymbal pad triggers the closed hats tip sound?!
As soon as I assign my yamaha cymbal pad note (B4) to the crash in SD2 then my closed hats tip triggers the crash sound. What is going on here. Please help!!
Hi,
are you positive that you only receive B4 when you hit the cymbal pad? This is verified in the MIDI monitor?
Which version of Toontrack solo and Superior 2 are you using? What is reported in the interface?
