All the five Sound Library parts must be installed to the same place – but that place doesn’t have to be the same place as your other SDX:s/EZX:s – so yes, you can put the basic installation wherever you’d like 🙂

I meant keeping the SD3 sound library on a separate SSD from the EZX and SD2 sound libraries. Is that not possible?

    Exactly.

You can even have a small installation on one place and a full installation on another place. I have the basic sound installation for SD3 sound library on my internal drive on my laptop, and the full installation on an external disk. If I take my laptop with me and don’t bring the external disk, I can still use SD3 – but without the extra sounds 🙂
