Might be a simple answer to this question but here goes.
Took a basic drum beat, created multiple tracks- muted all tracks but the kick and audio mixdowned with cubase
Then unmuted all others toms, cyblas hihat etc and audio mixed downed
Exported all to MP3
So I have two tracks, 1 with the kick only and the other with toms, snare, cymbals etc
When I went to my car to listen- the kick drum sounds fat, lots of bottom end and is loud- the 2nd track with the exact same kick but with the other parts of the drum- the kick volume drops by like 50%
Why is this? Is it because with just the kick the overheads are picking up the kick and when I activate the rest of the track the other parts of the drums are blocking the kick from the room and overhead mics?
It’s the only answer I can think of, but still not sure why it would affect the kick volume.
Anyone know why this happens?
Thanks to any answers!
Flip the polarity on the kick mic channels and see if that cures the problem.
