    1. The Hi-hat Mute group is listed in the MIDI Layout pdf for No.1 Hits EZX. Basically, note 26 is the open hit, note 22 is the closed hit and note 24 is the hats small hit.

    2. Are you running the latest version of EZdrummer (1.3.0)? The velocity response works fine in Cubase, Reaper, and Samplitude here. Is there only a problem in Logic?

I think by grouped he means a one note (Monophonic not polyphonic) group thusly auto muting the open hat if the closed hat is played.
Usually Hats in Romplers are pre programmed this way.

I’m not sure what you mean juicy.

If you trigger an open hat in the No. 1 Hits EZX with note 26, triggering note 22 will then auto mute the open hat sound (note 26). Granted, it’s not how Toontrack’s other libraries handle mutes but it’s how this EZX works.

So they are grouped and auto muting,
appears thats not what he’s getting at this point.

Yes, they are grouped when using the above described notes. If he’s not using those notes, he won’t get the mute groups. He hasn’t replied so we may never know…

Can one easily now mute the open hi hat using SD3? I’m having the same issue as the OP. I want my  closed hat to cut off my open hat (f#1 and a#1). Is there an “easy” way to create a mute group. I’m not getting how this is setup.

Since the open and closed hi-hat are separate instruments (both in SD3 and in the “real world”), they don’t automatically mute each other. You can manually control when a instrument should mute, by letting the length of the MIDI notes trigger a shortened Release in the Level Envelope property box.

To be able to see length of MIDI notes in the Grid Editor, right click the instrument name in the left list in the Grid Editor, and select Show Note Length.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll check his out later. In the meantime I just used a different instance of SD3 for the hat in this particular song due to a deadline.
