HI,
I just downloaded and activated EZDrummer 2 and the latin percussion expansion pack. I have experience with the free MT PowerDrumkit 2 and Drumcore 3 plugins. After playing with EZdrummer 2 and the latin pack it seems the preset patterns don’t really have a “simple” 4-beat soft samba/bossa pattern. I’m trying to create a backing track with just drums/percussion and bass for this tune:

Actually I may want to add the flute part – I have a Roland GR-55 guitar synth. Any suggestions as to the easiest way to get close to the drums/percussion of the original?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Just a side comment: In general it seems like there aren’t too many simple sequences for intros, verses, fills, etc. Hmmm, a little over the top like real drummers sometimes. ?

So I made my simple patterns. I found out I had to create separate tracks if I wanted a traditional kit and Latin percussion. EZ drummer and the Latin Percussion expansion pack have great sounds but inserting a midi drum pattern into a track creates a weird glitch on the first note of the pattern. The workaround seems to be using the EX Drummer browser and dropping the pattern into the preview player lane first and then dragging into the DAW track – at least that worked for me in Reaper. In any case, for my project today I just used Drumcore 3 (sorry Toontrack) and used EZ Drummer for the percussion. Here’s a sample of the end product….
