New traffic light will be installed at Ham Lake

The Anoka County Board has awarded a contract for a new traffic signal in Ham Lake.
On a recommendation from its Public Works Committee, the board approved the low bid by a http://www.nobleled.com/en/showroom/LED_traffic_light/100mm-traffic/ totaling $574,187.80 to install a new traffic signal and construct bypass and turn lanes on Lexington Avenue NE at Crosstown Boulevard NE.
The engineer’s estimate was $614,118.80. There were four bids on the http://www.nobleled.com/en/Project/index-11-1.html.
The project, which will be from 500 feet north to 1,500 feet south of Crosstown, will include the addition of left- and right-turn lanes as well as bypass lanes, paved shoulders and painted median on Lexington.
Both Lexington Avenue and Crosstown Boulevard are county state aid highways.
The county has received a federal safety grant of $459,000 for the project and a joint powers agreement with the Ham Lake City Council has been approved for the city’s cost sharing in the project.
According to the county highway department webpage, there will be lane shifts during construction of http://www.nobleled.com/en/showroom/system_solution/solar-traffic-system.html, but minimal traffic impact.
Work is scheduled to start in mid to late July and be completed in August.
