hi all, I’m new to EZ drummer, just switched over from Ableton and programming drums through there to Pro Tools and EZD. I’m loving it so far; the grooves and sounds are great and provide a much more realistic feeling than what I’d spend hours working on programming my own stuff.
the one problem I’m having is this…
I tap in the basics of what I’m looking for and find a good match through the browser. but often if i have something particular in mind I will want to make a tweak.
Maybe the beat is perfect except for the kick pattern.. or maybe I need to double up on the high hat.
I can’t find a way to manipulate or draw in notes through EZ Drummer itself.
Should I finish the song in EZ Drummer and then export it as midi to pro tools where I can use the midi editor to change what I want? (is that possible?)
for the high hat problem for example.. i thought in the editor I could turn up the dial to get more high hat.. but it doesnt seem to double it from 8th notes to 16ths. instead it adds strange patterns etc. This is great when I’m creating and looking for inspiration but not so great when I have something in mind..
I know I can draw my own beats from scratch in pro tools and have EZ drummer play it back with their sounds but the grooves EZD comes with are much better. I just want to find a way to tweak individual parts of a beat.
Any help would be great!
Hi,
If I find a Kick in one pattern that I like and the HH and Snare in another, I just use the Song Track in EZdrummer 2 to cut, copy and Paste. If I need further tweaking, I enter Edit Play Style. Sometimes that’s all I need.
It sounds to me as if you haven’t discovered Edit Play Style, so I recommend you check it out.
