Superior Drummer 3 is great and covers so many areas – but it’s missing something!! Really dead drums – something like Jake Reed’s super dead drums. A pack with virtually no room sound, completely dry close mics, with perhaps the option (but not by default) to dial in some very short/small room tone, just to give it a bit of life. It’s totally possible on an acoustic kit in the right studio. Just needs someone who really knows how to get “that” sound.
I’ve seen others saying similar things, so unless I’ve missed an expansion that covers this, I really think this could be a great product to create.
I totally agree. One can turn off the room mic’s etc in superior drummer 3, but its not quite the same. I’ve been looking for that ‘flat and dead’ acoustic drum sound that is still lively. It’s also elusive to find in any virtual drummer set up. Would be a great addition to the library.
I know that it is ‘only’ an EZX but don’t discount the Claustrophobic EZX.
The Claustrophobic EZX fuses conventional and organic drums with a selection of percussive elements, all recorded in a heavily dampened room and mixed through high-end chains of outboard. It includes several kit presets, a large selection of optional instruments as well as a comprehensive library of presets.
Have you tried Rooms of Hansa Vocal Booth ? Some pretty dry sound options in this one
