This is, I’m sure, a Samplitude Pro X2 issue but I’m hoping someone here may have experienced (and conquered) it…
When selecting a groove I want to use in a Samp track, I always just drag it into the drum midi track and that’s that. Done this for years.
After installing a Samp update, every time I drag an SD clip into the midi track, Samp creates an entirely new track just above the midi track.
Every single groove I choose – wham bam! a new track.
From there, I can drag the clip into the correct track, and then delete the unwanted new tracks – but come on!
So far, I’ve gotten only “gosh, that never happened to me” responses from the Samp forum.
If anyone is familiar with Samp Pro X2 and has any kind of suggestion (other than mental-health-related!), I’d love to hear it.
Thanks

I *think* this is a setting under Preferences. I know Cubase had/have something similar that can be set to always import drag-and-dropped MIDI to new track.

Thanks for the reply, John.
It does sound like a preference-setting kind of thing. Did check and didn’t see anything obvious, but like most complex software, it has a lot of stuff “hidden” in nooks and crannies.
It’s helpful for me to know that that particular option is not unusual, but disappointing that the forum power users wouldn’t have mentioned it.
I’ll put on my glasses and go sleuthing some more.
Appreciate the input.
