Excellent song! I absolutely love how the vocals just lure me into the song almost as if they are speaking directly at me in both the words and the mix. Funny enough, Music City is one of two SDXs that I don’t have. After listening to your song, I might have to reevaluate that at some point as I can hear the possibilities in my own songs.

    Hi Jordan,
Thanks for the compliments! I listened to a few of your songs, really like “Cold Touch” and “All Comes Down”. You’re a lot better singer and light years ahead of me on guitar. Your drums sound fine to me! I have several kits, but seem to stick with Music City probably because I managed to find EQ & Compressor settings for the Kick and Snare that I like.

    Hi Paul,

I am truly humbled by your compliments. As far as your vocals and guitar went in the song, you had me right in there. I found myself listening to it a few times, simply because I was pulled in. I would go as far as to say that you are a far better songwriter than I am. That, to me, counts more than how good a guitarist or vocalist one may be. In the end, its all about the song.

Sorry if I find it funny that you picked the one song in which I absolutely detest the drums. All Comes Down did not use Superior Drummer 3. In fact, I totally hated the drum library that I used because the room was so bombastic, more because of the way that it was recorded. I only managed to save it marginally by using UAD’s Ocean Way Studio Reverb. Only reason I’m not going to re-mi with SD3 is more because I want to do some more songs. Cold Touch uses The Rock Foundry, which I will admit is my main go-to SDX. Like you, I have found a kit that works almost magic when I use it. However, it doesn’t work for every song due its larger overall sound. That’s why I love exploring other SDXs.

    Hi Jordan,
Yesterday I briefly scanned thru 4 of your songs to hear the drums and they sounded fine to me. I listened to the whole song of All Comes Down and Cold Touch and at that point I was concentrating on the vocals and guitar. Cold Touch was my favorite of the bunch. I’ve been tempted to buy Rock Foundry, but held off so far because of getting a sound I like with Music City. I use Samplitude’s EQ and UADs LA2A on the kick and snares. If you end up buying Music City let me know and I’ll send my settings which may be helpful as a starting point. For the kick I almost always use the same EQ settings.
As far as vocals, I don’t have power and when I try to push the volume it sounds awful, so most of the time I’m singing close to the mic at low volume. I also do double tracks which takes forever to get to a point where I’m ok with it (a lot of punch ins). So I don’t naturally have a good singing voice. On this song I used Soundtoys delay on the vocals and I like the results.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen and post!

Your remarks have genuinely humbled me. You had me right in there with your singing and guitar in the song. I found myself listening to it several times because it drew me in. I’d even go so far as to claim you’re a better songwriter than I am. That, to me, is more important than how excellent a guitarist or singer one is. It’s all about the song in the end.
