midi packs files only vs stand alone with sounds

im using pro tools 12  can i just purchase the keys midi pack and jusr drop midi files of the performances into my existing virtual instruments and use my own sounds?  or do i need to purchase the complete software and use the sounds and midi files?

i have ez drum and love the results im getting!
