As per title. Got my backup DM10X mesh today (normally using my Yamaha DTX900). Been reading the manual, made all the adjustments before I will be transporting it to a different facility later on. I had already setup a MIDI node preset for triggering the hihat tip+edge articulation based on velocity range mapping (since DM10 only has 1-zone hats).
This obviously works, but the thing I should have known is that it will disable CC4, or rather the ability to make open sounds with the hats when moving the pedal since that node does not respond to CC4. It keeps that node intact all the time so I only play tip/edge-sounds. What I want to do is to keep that MIDI node in Superior Drummer for when the pedal is closed (high CC4-value)ONLY, and as soon as it opens just be free from that node and go open.
So in other words I want to:
Utilize the velocity range confined-MIDI node created in SDX for tip/edge when fully closed, but have that very same node deactivated as soon as the hihatpedal sends a CC4-message for opening the hats. Thus tip/edge when closed, nodeless and open every other time.
I’m on a train now, so I can’t try for myself but what if you load the Alesis MIDI Preset first, then create a new MIDI-node with the 2 members HatsTrig ans HatsTipTrig, assign the node to note 42 or 46, whichever is the right one and constrain each member’s velocity range?
I attach a quick test for you to look at and modify, it’s a MIDI-node Preset zipped.

I am trying to do the same thing. Keep my hi hat normal, but when it is fully closed, have a midi node so hits below say 70 velocity trigger tight tip, and hits above 70 trigger tight edge. Then when i let up on the pedal the midi node is no longer active. I have a feeling that is not possible based on how i think the cc4 works to control the pedal, but it would be really awesome to be able to do this.
Just confirming that it is not possible to accomplish. You would
need a MidiNode that has a separate CC input for that.

ah im sorry to hear that. After tinking with the hi hat mapped so i had nodes on the closed section it made the hi hat 100% more playable in terms of feel. It just felt right after doing that. Sadly it cant be opened or closed so its not practical but its quite a tease. Is this something that could be added in future updates or does midi just not allow for that type of control? Even a cobby work around may suffice.. ive even considered getting a second hi hat pad to map always closed so i have those dynamic options.. its that good.
On a side note, is it possible to change which articulation is played when the pedal is closed? right now it plays a tighttip articualtion but i would rather it play tight edge for some songs.
