A little over a year ago, I set out to fully recreate Metallica’s Black Album on the drums using a custom preset I made in Superior Drummer 3. I spent over a month designing the preset to sound very close to what Bob Rock & Randy Staub engineered back in 1990-91. A majority of the preset is from the core SD3 library but I did dig into my other libraries to round out the sound a little more. Those additional libraries are:
All the drum covers have now been released to my YouTube channel. 5 of the “main” songs from the album are drumless backing tracks which are indicated in the YouTube titles. My favorites are ‘Wherever I May Roam’ and ‘The Unforgiven’. The preset is available on my website. Let me know what you think!
