max volume – another problem vith td12 and sd2.1

hi.

now it’s all ok with the vh-11.

but i have noticed that if i click the virtual pads with the mouse, the max volume of each drum parts (snare, kick, hi -hat and so on…) is a lot louder than when i play my e-drum.

i have tried to raise the sensivity on the td12 module, but so i have lost all the dinamics….

anyone can help me?

PS: i use toontrack SOLO and sd2.1 as a vst instrument on REAPER / CUBASE

When you click on the virtual pads you will trigger a maximum velocity sample…..there will be no difference than when you trigger a full velocity sample from your edrums.
 
The differences you are perceiving are most probably psychological….when you hit a drum you expect to hear a really loud noise…when you click on a computer screen you don’t.
 
You could try using the classic view in S2 where the virual pads are able to play different velocities or use the audition pad in the bottom right corner which again is velocity sensitive.

ok, but even in the classic view, if i click at the top of the virtual pad, the volume is much louder than if i play the td12’s pad harder as i can!

this evening i’ll check again.

It must be something to do with your sensitivity settings then….if your module is sending a max MIDI velocity of 127 then it will be the same as the volume you are getting if you click on S2’s interface

for example, i have 6 for sensivity on the snare and toms.

maybel i have to decrease this??? i have tried with 8 and 10, but i loss all the dinamics when i play very soft.

why not try to lower the hard/limit for the relevant drums in S2 (velocity CTRL section) ?

… clean and you shouldn’t lose too much dynamics although if your maximum value is really low then that’s only going to be as refined as the resolution that can be derived from the range of velocity values sent by the module.

It’s actually one of the example noted in the manual btw, so I’d recommend you give it a good read at the first available opportunity 😉
