Hi,
I can pull up instrument tracks in DP11 and SD2 comes up and goes promptly onto the template. From that point, I don’t know how to procede. What I want to do is trigger the sounds with an Akai MPD226 controller, writing & editing my own drum parts and recording the audio and midi into my projects. I love the sounds and flexibility and can get audio nicely as a stand-alone instrument, but since Superior Drummer 2 is the only drummer I’m using, I need to get this working.
Can someone there steer me towards a link or a tutorial that explains how to do this? I’m a skilled guitarist/engineer once I understand the processes. I’d be just fine, but information is desperately short on how to set this up. And I badly need a hand in getting this up and running. My clients are giving me the time needed to get going so I’ll start here with you good folks. With a little luck, we can get this ball rolling!
Any assistance you can provide would be very helpful, indeed! Eventually, I’ll upgrade to SD3 where even better sounds will be available. But first, I need someone to open the door.
With great appreciation and thanks!
Paul
Hi Paul,
I am not 100% certain it works the same way now as it did back when I tried to learn DP but then you had to both create an Instrument Track where you inserted SD2 and then also a MIDI Track, which had to be routed to the Instrument Track to trigger SD2 from.
Does this help?

Thanks John
Yes, that makes sense. I saw videos of guys recording SD2 in Logic using a trigger board. They were recording multitrack drums and editing on the fly and that’s exactly what I want to do on DP11.
Using the information you gave me I’ll try the trigger board hookup and see if I can get DP to recognize it. If it will, I’ll be in business once I get the multitracking figured out.
Huge thanks for helping me!! If you run across more pertinent information, please send it my way.
With appreciation and Thanks!
Paul
