I’ve finished learning everything I can about how to create and manage midi note maps in all my edrum related hardware and software.
I was thinking about standardizing on Roland vdrums mappings with the hope that any drum sample VST might include a Roland map. I’m now thinking that Roland’s map is perhaps an outlier and that I’m better off sticking with something as close to general midi as possible.
Setup:
Ludwig 5 piece set with UFO Drums ebridges, 3 ply mesh heads, hi-hat stand conversion to Hall Effect, Yamaha 3zone cymbals. MegaDrum controller. Cantabile VST host.
Drum VSTs in addition to SD2 – Jamstix, SM Drums, DrumMic’a and other free drum VSTs.
I’m looking for people who use multiple drum VST’s with an edrum kit to see what strategy they settled on.
I ended up creating a spreadsheet to keep track of my settings for each VST. I then created maps in each and saved the setups. I tried to stick to the SD2 map preset “edrums specific” > “generic” as much as possible for all VSTs
