Latin Percussion EZX v1.5.4—Timbales

While we were experimenting, we think we found a problem with the Timbales category. Inside both the sub-categories of ‘Cascara’ and ‘Salsa/Swing’. When you select any of the variations of those all you hear is Stick against the Rim of the Drum, not the Head(s). But when you select ‘Fills’/’Timbale Fills’ you properly hear the Head(s). Also when you do a ‘Search’ using Library: Latin Percussion, Straight time, Timbale and chose Latino 06 Percussion Ensemble, for example, you hear the same thing: Sticks on Rims, Not Heads. Could you please confirm my findings, and if so, what is the fix for this issue? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the feedback, however as far as I know this is intended. A lot of timbale rhythms are played on the side of the drum with fills played on the heads.

Thank you for the very quick response Damian.

I’ve looked at many videos and what I’m hearing is ‘Side Stick'(you are correct) with Clave and/or Cowbells, then the occasional ‘Fill’ and Cymbal Crash as the song progresses.

I’m not sure if you’re the right person to address this next question to but here goes.

What I’d like to do is to use a simple ‘Pad Device’ that I can, literally, put on my recording desk, assign the samples by Pad number and then tap out and record my specific latin percussion drums arrangement.

I know under ‘settings’ there’s an ‘E Drums’ section, but I’m thinking that would be for a ‘Full Set’ of Electronic Drums, though there is in the drop down menu a selection for ‘Other’ The products I’m looking at are: Korg nanoPAD2, Akai LPD8, Arturua Beatstep. would any of these be ‘Other’?

If there’s a reference document you can refer me to or a previous answer here in the forum please link me to those.

Update to my post. I just saw and hear the Korg nanoPAD2 being used with EZ Drummer on youtube. It looks like the EXACT product I can use. It’s on order right now.
